John J. Gebbia is stepping into the chairman’s seat at Siebert Financial Corp., and two of his sons are taking over the chief executive duties.

The company announced that David and Richard Gebbia will be co-CEOs of the publicly traded firm (NASDAQ: SIEB). A third son, John M. Gebbia, was appointed CEO of Muriel Siebert & Co., the company’s main brokerage arm, and was added to the board of directors.

John J. Gebbia, who will keep a hand in long-range planning and oversight, said the family is in it for the long haul.

“This company has always been built for the long term from its start almost 60 years ago,” said John J. Gebbia, chairman of Siebert Financial. “Our family is committed to Siebert and the next 60 years, and I’m proud to continue working alongside my sons as we build the next chapter together.”

The company said the new structure divides responsibilities clearly. The co-CEOs will direct the parent company’s strategy, pursue new business and lead expansion. John M. Gebbia will oversee day-to-day brokerage operations while helping shape governance at the corporate level.

Richard Gebbia said the brothers have been groomed for the roles.

“We know this business, we know where the opportunities are, and we have a clear plan to keep growing,” Richard Gebbia said. “We have been preparing for this task for decades now, and have the right experience and ambition to achieve it.”

His brother David Gebbia pointed to the family’s approach to decision-making.

“Our belief is that every generation has a responsibility to leave the business stronger than they found it, taking key decisions together as a family to shape its future,” he said.

The co-CEOs said they intend to broaden Siebert’s platform of financial services, strike partnerships, build products and invest in technology.

The Gebbia family took control of Siebert in 2016. Since then, the company has moved beyond conventional brokerage into wealth management, investment banking, securities lending and financial technology. It posted $31.2 million in revenue in the second quarter of 2026, with contributions from stock borrow and stock loan, investment banking, wealth management and advisory businesses. It is also working on tokenized securities, cross-border market access and new investment products.

Siebert’s roots go back to Muriel “Mickie” Siebert, the first woman to own a seat on the New York Stock Exchange, which she acquired in 1967. She also became the first woman to lead one of its member firms. The company turns 60 in 2027.
