Eric Fletcher and His Mission to Supporting Experienced Professionals in Building Sustainable Practices

Eric Fletcher has dedicated his work to helping highly skilled professionals build practices that feel deliberate, cohesive, and true to who they are. Through Eric Fletcher Consulting, he partners with individuals who carry significant expertise and responsibility, helping them strengthen how they show up in the market. His work centers on guiding professionals forward with intention, using a framework that respects both craftsmanship and long term ambition.

Fletcher’s journey began with an early curiosity about communication. “I was the kid who stayed up late with a small radio under my pillow, completely absorbed by the voices telling stories,” he recalls. What started as simple fascination developed into a deeper interest in how communication functions. That curiosity eventually led him into media and creative settings, where he learned how messages resonate, how trust is built, and how attention translates into action. Over time, those lessons expanded into broader advisory work.

As his career evolved, Fletcher spent many years inside professional service firms, working closely with leadership teams tasked with shaping growth and direction. These roles gave him insight into how accomplished professionals operate once technical expertise is assumed and expectations expand. “I noticed a shift that happens as people advance,” Fletcher explains. “They move from focusing on delivering excellent work to needing to actively create opportunities.”

That realization led to the creation of Eric Fletcher Consulting. The practice is designed for professionals who already possess credibility and experience, often those stepping into senior roles or partnership and facing a wider scope of responsibility. Fletcher works frequently with lawyers entering partnership, advisors rising within established firms, and leaders progressing through organizational ranks. He views this stage as critical, where having clarity around direction becomes essential and the right support can ease momentum.

Fletcher’s process begins with careful listening. “When I sit down with someone, we usually start by exploring how they see themselves, how they prefer to engage, and the types of relationships they want to build,” he says. That foundation informs every step that follows.

From there, Fletcher introduces his Targets, Drivers, and Solutions framework. The model helps identify the right people to engage, understand the factors that influence their decisions, and develop solutions that address genuine needs. The approach encourages alignment between expertise, values, and outreach, allowing business development to feel like a natural extension of professional identity rather than a separate effort.

A defining aspect of Fletcher’s work is his emphasis on empathetic and creative problem solving. One example comes from working with a lawyer who had just stepped into a senior role and felt uncertain about where meaningful opportunities might emerge. Together, they clarified an ideal client profile and examined the lawyer’s existing network, which largely consisted of HR professionals. This revealed a strategic opportunity by uncovering operational pressures within HR teams, identifying influence points in a space that does not typically hire lawyers directly but strongly shapes internal decision making.

Building on those insights, they developed free educational seminars tailored for HR teams. Fletcher explains that the sessions addressed real challenges in accessible ways, positioning the lawyer as a trusted resource. “Those HR leaders then brought his name to their in house legal teams, which opened doors for my client,” he says. Today, Fletcher continues to focus on senior level professionals who value thoughtful collaboration and sustainable progress.

Outside of consulting, Fletcher remains active as a writer and TEDx speaker, using these platforms to explore related ideas. His talks often emphasize choosing meaningful measures of progress and treating people with care throughout professional interactions. “Progress follows intention,” he says. “Paying attention to how we listen often changes what becomes possible.” These themes run consistently through his consulting work, reinforcing a cohesive philosophy across mediums.

At its core, Eric Fletcher’s work is about helping capable professionals move forward with confidence. He takes the time to understand how people think, how they want to work, and what direction truly fits them. His consulting practice provides structure for that journey, but it is his approach to guiding clients that defines his impact. Whether advising, writing, or speaking, Fletcher remains focused on intentional action and building progress that aligns with the individual creating it.
