Thank you so much for giving us your time! Before we begin, could you introduce yourself to our readers and take us through what exactly your company does and what your vision is for its future?
Loren Howard: I am a seasoned entrepreneur, real estate investor, and now founder of Prime Plus Mortgages. Prime Plus Mortgages which is a hard money lender and mortgage note company that helps investors find funds for their real estate investments and find the right mortgage note to diversify their portfolio.
As a real estate investor myself, I know firsthand what investors need from a hard money lender. At Prime Plus Mortgages, we can offer that VIP treatment, with the speed, and flexibility, that our clients need.
We also know variety is important, which is why we now offer Mortgage Note Investing options to our clients. Our real estate note investments are 1st position deeds of trusts, meaning they are secured by real estate, equipped with title insurance and personal guarantees from the borrowers. That is how we ensure high returns and low risks.
NO child ever says I want to be a CEO/entrepreneur when I grow up. What did you want to be and how did you get where you are today?
Loren Howard: For the longest time, I had a dream of playing for the NFL. I had a natural talent for sports and paired with my drive it led me to play college football. I had an injury and had to change career paths. So I decided to venture into business for myself. I started my own business, had a few losses, and some big wins, and I have launched several companies in varying industries to the 7, and 8 figure marks. Now I am perfecting my formula for success!
Tell us something about yourself that others in your organization might be surprised to know.
Loren Howard: I’m pretty much an open book – but some may be surprised to hear about my daily meditations. I think it is the best way to start the day and center yourself. I find that it helps me keep momentum on what is important.
Many readers may wonder how to become an entrepreneur but what is an entrepreneur? How would you define it?
Loren Howard: Entrepreneurs get back up when they are knocked down. When you are an entrepreneur it’s about taking big risks and leaps of faith constantly, and learning the lessons, and moving quickly. If you dwell on a past failure you won’t be able to focus and take the next big step forward.
What is the importance of having a supportive and inclusive culture?
Loren Howard: Your team is one of the most important aspects of any business. If your team can’t rely or depend on each other, your business won’t make any progress.
How can a leader be disruptive in the post covid world?
Loren Howard: Covid made businesses have to look at inefficiencies and productivity in a completely different way. If you can move quickly, and have a message that truly connects to your audience you can still make a large impact if you have the basics of your business right!
If a 5-year-old asked you to describe your job, what would you tell them?
Loren Howard: I build companies and teams. I take ideas in my head and make them real! I find people that are the best at what they do and they help me make the ideas in my head.
Share with us one of the most difficult decisions you had to make for your company that benefited your employees or customers. What made this decision so difficult and what were the positive impacts?
Loren Howard: I haven’t had any real difficulties with my current business because I know firsthand what investors need from a hard money lender. No investment is ever the same, so the investors need options that can work with them, not against them. At Prime Plus Mortgages, we can offer that VIP treatment, with the speed, and flexibility, that our clients need.
Leaders are usually asked about their most useful qualities but let’s change things up a bit. What is your most useless talent?
Loren Howard: I don’t see any talent as useless really. I think balance is really important so even if talent can’t build a business I don’t think it is bad to have if it brings you joy and helps you minimize your stress then it’s a good burnout repellent.
Thank you so much for your time but before we finish things off, we do have one more question. If you wrote a book about your life until today, what would the title be?
Loren Howard: “The Trick To A Happy Life, Business, And Success”
